Just when we seem to be getting right on track, you wake up to something as terrible as an increase in dollar, or a hike in the price of your favourite meal.

In the face of all this, it is so tempting to give up, and say 'there is no God', but it is so important that we do not give in to this.

Rather, we should hold on to our faith, fuelled by the Bible, which is filled with word of God, to help us get through anything.

Here are 10 verses to encourage us through this economic recession.

1. Psalm 46:1-3; "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

2. Luke 12:22; "And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on."

3. Luke 12:28-31; "But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you."

4. Joshua 1:9; “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

5. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10; “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

6. Philippians 4:6; “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

7. Romans 8:31; “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

8. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9; “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

9. Isaiah 54:17;  “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.  This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.”

10. Romans 8:18;  “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
