"It's been one year, but he's refused to forgive my infidelity"

He still does not trust me, and this keeps breaking my heart.

Relationship Talk

Dear Bukky,

My guy cheated on me with two other ladies and he confessed to me and I forgave him.

But I later decided to move on and let him be. So I dated someone else while I was still with him but I never loved the guy I was dating so I told the guy and we separated.

One and half year now, and my guy can't forgive me because I lied to him that I didn't date any other guy apart from him.

I’d told him the truth eventually, as well as my reason for lying to him - I’d been initially scared to tell the truth because I was scared he would leave me.

It’s been one year and six months since I made that confession to him but he still does not trust me, and this keeps breaking my heart.

What am I supposed to do now?_______________________

Hi Reader,

That relationship will never be the same again, no matter how you try.

He cheated, you cheated, you both have been playing games with each other and that should balance things out and make the relationship continue, right?

Sadly, that’s not how things work, and seeing the way your partner seems to operate, it is easy to deduce that he is not as forgiving as you.

It might be a hard thing to swallow, but it might be time to give yourself a break from all of this. Pull back, say, for one or two months.

See his reaction. Does he come after you, or does he just nonchalantly let you go like that?

Two months is a long, long time to judge someone’s interest in having you in their life. If you take this break, and he does nothing serious to declare or show proper interest in making things work between you both, then that could be all the answers you need.

It might be time to really move on. You might need to wake up and smell the coffee, the relationship might never work again._________________
