"If we don’t want buildings to keep collapsing, we must do the right thing," Assistant Director advises

In light of the high rate of collapsed buildings in Nigeria, building experts are proffering solutions.

According to Mr. Gbolahan Oki, an Assistant Director with the Lagos State Building Control Agency, the solution is co-operation between builders.

“Things are getting dynamic; we should not be static. If we don’t want buildings to keep collapsing, we must do the right thing."

For Mr. Olaopa Olusoji, a representative of the Lagos State Safety Commission, building collapses will stop once safety measures are incorporated.

“We do the right thing when we incorporate safety at the design stage. From the block moulders to all other professionals, the safety code should be observed.”
