The National Vice President and Chairman of Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), South-West zone, Mr. Taiwo Ogunbodede, has stated some of the reasons for building collapse.
Speaking at a forum organised by the Building Collapse Prevention Guild, Ikosi-Isheri Cell in Lagos, he gave the following as things that lead to building collapse:
Ogunbodede urged the local town planning authorities to always enforce the law governing all approved structural details of building materials and effective supervision.
Mr. Solomon Ogunseye, the Coordinator of BCPG Ikosi-Isheri Cell Unit, urged everyone, particularly developers, to take this problem seriously.
“The frequent collapse of buildings in Nigeria, and Lagos especially, with its attendant loss of lives and properties, should be addressed by all professionals in the building industry with relevance to the developers,” he said.
