The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied reports that it’s already shopping for Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s replacement.
‘We won’t abandon Senate President,’ PDP vows
The PDP also said that Saraki’s trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal is political and that he would remain innocent until proven guilty.

This was disclosed to Punch on Sunday, September 27, 2015, by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh.
“We have no candidate for the office of the Senate President, because we have a fit person occupying the position for now,” Metuh said.
“We are behind him and we can’t abandon him just because he is undergoing trial. Anybody can be put on trial, but the question we should ask is whether the trial is political or not.
Does the trial have merit? When we see the merit of the case, we will take position. But for now, there is nothing like that,” he added.
Saraki is being tried at the tribunal for assets declaration fraud after he was charged by the Code of Conduct Bureau.
The Senate President appeared before the tribunal on September 22 after two previous absences.
The case has been adjourned to October 21 for further hearing.
