Tribunal upholds Senate President’s election

The ruling was made in favour of Saraki, who represents the Kwara Central Senatorial District, on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Kwara State has upheld the election of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

“Election petition tribunal sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has upheld the election of Senate President, Bukola Saraki,” the Senate President wrote via Twitter.

Saraki’s victory in the March 28 election was challenged by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Meanwhile, Saraki is currently chairing a plenary session for the screening of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees.

Buhari has so far submitted 35 names to Saraki, 21 on September 30 and 14 on October 12.
