A former APC governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Dr. Dakuku Peterside says electoral material meant for one ward in Opobo/Nkoro LG Area in the ongoing legislative rerun election has been hijacked.

Peterside, who is the present Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASSA) said thugs eloped with the materials.

He, however, later said that the materials have been recovered from the thugs due to the timely intervention of security agents.

Peterside disclosed this after visiting that Local Government area.

He said: "Opobo/Nkoro is peace generally now. We observed that they imported some people from outside the LGA.

"Election for one unit was hijacked by some boys, but the security agencies have recovered it. That materials have arrived and it is going orderly for now."
