Opposition suffers loss as 2 Reps members join APC

The move, which elicited jubilations from the APC members in the House of Reps, occured on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

The lawmakers, who defected were Tony Nwoye, from Anambra-East / West Federal Constituency of Anambra State, and Emmanuel Udende from Katsina-Ala Federal Constituency of Benue State.

Nwoye and Udende further upped the numerical strength of the APC in the House of Reps to 215, while the PDP dropped to 138.

Punch reported that the defection of Nwoye and Udende didn't meet total approval from PDP lawmakers as the Minority Leader of the House, Mr. Leo Ogor, representing Delta State, led a protest to halt the defection but failed.
