The Ondo All Progressives Congress (APC) guber candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu has alleged that the state Governor, Olusegun Mimiko is planning to postpone the upcoming governorship election.

The APC guber candidate also said the state Governor is planning to organise a three-day protest in Ondo, so the election will be postponed because of insecurity.

Akeredolu said “We are aware of the untoward moves and pressures being mounted on the Independent National Electoral Commission as well as friendly security heads in the state by Governor Olusegun Mimiko on the need to postpone the forthcoming governorship election in the state.”

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies not to give in to Mimiko’s pressure.

According to Punch, the APC candidate also alleged that the Governor is making several moves to ensure that the election is postponed.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) however debunked Akeredolu’s allegation, describing it as baseless.

The spokesman of the PDP in Ondo state, Ayo Fadaka said the APC guber candidate is afraid of losing the election.

According to Fadaka, “It is an empty allegation because they have no evidence to support their allegation. It is all lie.”

Akeredolu told newsmen that he is ready for the polls, and called all parties involved to ensure that the election is free and fair.

The Ondo state governorship election is slated to hold on November 28, 2016, reports say.

Also, APC has accused members of the PDP of destroying Rotimi Akeredolu’s campaign posters.
