Dear PDP, embrace Jimoh Ibrahim while it is day
The PDP won't be backing Jimoh Ibrahim even with its eyes closed. But right now, it's been left with no choice

And the rest of us can go to heaven.
Well, unless an earthquake happens, the PDP now has to live with Ibrahim.
If there's one thing Donald Trump's victory has taught us, it's never to write off any candidate whose name is on the ballot.
Especially if that candidate is a businessman who knows a thing or two about running businesses aground.
Justice Ibrahim Salaawu who is the Chairman of the Appeal Panel established to determine all appeals arising from the ongoing PDP leadership crisis, has adjourned the court's proceedings indefinitely.
This is good news for the Ibrahim camp, with the Ondo governorship election only a few days away.
Ondo votes on November 26.
'Indefinitely' often means between now and forever.
According to Salaawu: “Only yesterday, at about 7 p.m, we were served a motion from the apex court ordering the panel to discontinue further actions.
“The motion was filed by all the respondent parties in the pending appeals.
“This include the Ali Modu Sheriff, Biyi Poroye, the Executive members of the Ondo State PDP and the Executive members of the South West Zone of the party.
"These parties had approached the apex court to order us from further actions pending the determination of interlocutory appeals they had filed at the apex court’’.
Here's the background story--the PDP establishment isn't ready to back Ibrahim. Their preferred candidate is Eyitayo Jegede.
There are two PDP factions--the Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff factions.
The Makarfi faction is behind Jegede. The Sheriff faction is behind Ibrahim.
The PDP doesn't have one Chairman to call its own.
On June 29, Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court upheld Sheriff as the authentic Chairman of the PDP. The implication of this ruling is that any candidate propped by the Sheriff faction in all PDP primaries across the nation at this point, will be recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It's certainly not good news for the Makarfi faction, but that's just the way it is at the moment.
All of the PDP Governors aren't friends with Sheriff. Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State certainly wasn't backing Ibrahim. But with a few days more to go before Ondo decides on who his successor will be, Mimiko has got no choice.
Ibrahim is the one candidate the PDP now has to embrace or cede the election to the APC's Rotimi Akerodolu or the AD's Olusola Oke. For the PDP and Mimiko, it's a choice between the rock and a hard place.
Mimiko and his PDP should go for the rock.
