Appeal court President sets up new panel for PDP crisis

The initial panel led by Justice Jummai Sankey had pulled out of the case after it was accused of taking a bribe.

President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa

The initial panel of judges had pulled out of the case after the state PDP Chairman, Mr. Biyi Poroye of the Ali Modu Sheriff faction, accused it of taking bribe from the Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee.

According to Punch, the fresh three-man panel is led by Justice Ibrahim Salauwa of the Calabar Division of the Appeal Court.

It was learnt on Wednesday, November 2, that three of the five pending cases have been assigned to the new panel.

The two remaining cases have, however, not been assigned to the new panel, and it was unclear if another panel would be constituted for that purpose, the report said.

On Tuesday, November 1, the initial panel led by Justice Jummai Sankey returned the files of all the five pending cases to the President of the Court of Appeal, citing Poroye's petition, in which members of the panel were accused of corruption.

The Ondo State governorship election is billed for November 26, 2016.
