Senators want Buhari screened if he'd be Petroleum Minister

The Senators say since the President appointed himself Minister of Petroleum, he must submit himself before the Upper Chamber for screening just like other ministerial appointees.

 

As Nigerians anticipate the unveiling of the ministerial list tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6, at the senate plenary session, it has emerged that things may get rowdy as some senators are demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari must also be screened.

The Senators say since the President appointed himself Minister of Petroleum, he must submit himself before the Upper Chamber for screening just like other ministerial appointees - as stipulated by the constitution.

According to Vanguard, the senators have also resolved to reject the list if all the 36 states of the federation does not have representation each, arguing that the constitution provides for a nominee from each state.

The senators promised to promised to adopt stringent measures in line with the provisions of the Constitution during the screening of ministerial nominees, noting that they would not be cowed by the trial of Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
