This is following the emergence of Chief Rotimi Akeredolu as the APC guber candidate in the just concluded party primaries on Saturday, September 3, 2016.
According to Punch, some political parties that do not have any governorship candidate, have written to the aggrieved APC members to come and join them.
The Ondo state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Abayomi Adesanya, has however debunked the reports saying nobody wants to leave the party.
Adesanya also said “I don’t think that is true, no aspirant has that plan as far as I know in this party. After the primary on Saturday all aspirants have congratulated Akeredolu, which is a sign of acceptability of the result of the primary.
“The aspirants have promised to work with him. Together we are going to work to ensure we defeat the PDP in the forthcoming governorship election.”
However, an APC member who spoke to Punch, revealed that some aggrieved members were making moves to join other parties.
The APC member said ”Some of the aspirants have already made up their minds to go away because they lost the primary. We wish them good luck. Let them go and try their strength in other parties.
“This is not the first time such a thing will be happening in Ondo State politics. The incumbent governor, Mimiko did it in 2007 and he won the election, so if they know they too can win the election, let them go and try their luck in other parties.”
Following the emergence of Akeredolu as the APC governorship flag bearer, Doyin Okupe said the influence of the party’s National Leader, Bola Tinubu is fading in the South-West.
