APC records landslide victory in LG elections

Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), Dr. John Tsuwa, announced the results in Makurdi, the state capital.
Tsuwa also declared the APC unopposed winner of 182 counciliorship seat out of 276 council wards across the state, leaving 94 seats for other parties.
According to him, eight political parties took part in the exercise held across 3, 691 polling units in the state.
Tsuwa described the exercise as the most peaceful and credible election ever conducted in the history of the state.
Governor State Governor, Samuel Ortom, had expressed optimism that the APC would record a landslide victory in the polls.
"I am optimistic that the APC will sweep the polls," the Governor said after casting his vote on Saturday at Ako polling unit, Ndzorov ward of Guma.
He said he insisted on holding the election "to install democracy and instill discipline, accountability and sanity in local government administration."
