What ex-governor has to say about corruption allegations

Fashola has been accused of spending N78 million on the upgrade of his personal website and N139m on two boreholes.

Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, on Thursday, September 3, 2015, addressed allegations of corruption levelled against him while speaking at the 16th Bishop Mike Okonkwo Annual Lecture which held at the MUSON centre.

While the former governor was speaking on the need for accountable Nigerian leaders, a journalist from The Sun asked him to respond to the accusations in question.

Fashola, who was reportedly surprised at the question, said:

“To the man in The SUN, I don’t respond to allegations on the pages of newspapers.”

The recent attacks on the former governor’s reputation have been blamed on his predecessor Bola Tinubu and current governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

Tinubu has however denied being responsible and attributed the smear campaign instead to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
