Is Cross River governor planning to join APC?

Ayade’s spokesman, Christian Ita has however denied the claims that the governor is planning to defect.

Governor Ben Ayade

The rumours were sparked by Ayade’s meeting with leading members of the APC over the past weekend.

The APC members, among whom were governors Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, urged Ayade to leave the PDP for the APC, according to Daily Trust.

Ayade has made no secret of his affection for President Muhammadu Buhari despite the glaring differences between their parties.

“I am in love with the style and ability of President Muhammadu Buhari as leader of Nigerians. He does not see himself as a party leader but as father of the country,” Ayade said on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

“His efforts at streamlining the country’s resources, as well as tackling corruption drew me closer to him.  Besides, he has shown me love even though I am of the PDP. He gives utmost and prompt attention to my requests,” he added.

Ayade’s spokesman, Christian Ita has however denied the claims that the governor is planning to defect.
