Jubilation breaks out in National Assembly after ex-governor’s screening

Amaechi’s screening had been surrounded by controversy due to a petition raised against him and postponements by the Senate.

Jubilation broke out in the National Assembly today, October 22, 2015, following the ministerial screening of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi’s screening had been surrounded by controversy due to a petition raised against him by three Senators from his state.

The issue was further compounded by the Senate’s postponements of his interview.

Amaechi was final screened today and after he was asked to “bow and go”, his supporters expressed their joy.

Some of the former governor’s supporters within the complex were said to have chanted “we don win, we don win.”

The Senate is now continuing with the screening of five other nominees.

So far, 21 out of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 36 ministerial candidates have been interviewed by the legislative chamber.
