The police say they would deploy 10,000 personnel to provide security during Wednesday’s local government elections in Abia.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Abia, Ogbonnaya Nta, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Umuahia on Tuesday.

He said the command was collaborating with other security agencies to ensure adequate security of lives and property during the polls.

The PPRO said that movements would only be restricted around the polling centres and warned those who may be planning to foment trouble to desist from doing so.

According to Nta, anybody who has no business with the election should steer clear from the polling centres during the voting.

In a related development, the State Government declared Wednesday a work-free day for state civil servants.
