US warns of possible terrorist attack in Kampala

The US embassy in Uganda said it had "received information of possible threats" at city locations where Western nationals gather.

The United States embassy in Uganda has warned of a possible terrorist attack in the country's capital, Kampala in which Westerners may be targeted.

According to reports on BBC, the embassy said it had "received information of possible threats" at city locations where Western nationals gather.

The embassy said an attack "may take place soon", adding that some planned events had been cancelled at Kampala hotels.

No further details were however given

Uganda has been subject to attack by Somalia's al-Shabab militants in the past with an international cricket tournament cancelled last September because of security concerns.
