Ahead of the execution of the 9 prisoners on death row for drug smuggling in Indonesia, the families of the condemned have arrived Nusakambangan Island, where the prison holding the prisoners is located,  to visit their loved ones for the last time.

The 9 prisoners were formally informed of their possible execution this (Tuesday) night in accordance with the customary 72 hour notice under Indonesian law.

Meanwhile BBC reports that on Monday, one of the condemned prisoners, Australian Andrew Chan married his girlfriend Febyanti Herewila, in what his brother, Michael, said was "an enjoyable moment".

Also, his mother, Helen, was seen breaking down in tears after arriving on the island while fellow Australian, Myuran Sukumaran's sister reportedly collapsed and had to be carried upon arrival on the island.

The duo had severally appealed their sentence even as Australia and the international community called on the Indonesian government to wave the death sentence on the condemned 9, a move that has failed to yield result with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The Nigerian government had also joined in an appeal for presidential clemency for Nigerians, Raheem Agbaje Salami, Sylvester Obiekwe Nwolise and Okwudili Oyatanze who are also in line to be executed.

The 10 prisoners are expected to be executed by firing squad today Tuesday 28th April, despite pleas from Amnesty International to wait for one more court date to be heard for all 9 convicts.

Earlier on, an ambulance arrived at the ferry terminal with 9 coffins on board.
