Man regains freedom after 30 years on death row

The man was just 28 years old when he was arrested in 1985 for two killings.

 

A man in Alabama, United States, has regained his freedom after being on death row for 30 years.

Ray Hinton was freed on Friday, April 3 after the state determined that the only evidence they had against him could not prove he committed the crime.

According to new forensic tests which did not show that crime scene bullets, the only evidence linking Hinton to the killings came from his gun.

"I shouldn't have sat on death row for 30 years. All they had to do was test the gun," he said.
