Govt shuts down 908 private health institutions for violations

The closing down periods depend on the severity of the violations.

Saudi Health Ministry on Monday shut down 908 private health institutions for various violations in the last six months, a media report said.

Reports say the close-down decision that covered hospitals, medical complexes and clinics were among 1,532 reported violations and warnings that the ministry issued in the same period.

The closing down periods depend on the severity of the violations as some of those organisations remain closed until correcting their situations, the report from the ministry added.

"The violations vary from the licenses of the medical facilities and medics, shortages in medical equipment and poor infection, sterilisation and waste control,’’ the ministry said.

Report says tough measures became necessary, as the country is fighting the transmission of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) Corona virus that has killed hundreds of local and residents since 2012.
