Further reports by the Turkish media say six people have been confirmed injured in the bomb blast.

Frequently hosting tourists - especially on weekends - the attack on Istiklal Street, is coming barely a week after an attack in the capital, Ankara, killed 37 people.

The attack was claimed by a Kurdish militant group, saying it was in revenge for Turkish military operations against Kurds.

Earlier in the year, there was an attack on a tourist centre in Istanbul. Watch the video here >>>
