At least 14 people were reportedly killed and over two dozens injured in India on Friday, May 5, after an auto crash.

A speeding mini-truck carrying wedding guests was said to have overturned in the country's northern Etah city.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Friday .in Jalesar area of Etah.

According to reports, the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fall into a canal.

The wounded were rushed to a nearby health centre for preliminary treatment and rescue personnel toiled to retrieve the bodies from the water, local media said.

Road safety has been a serious concern in India as thousands die every year in accidents.

India has the world's deadliest roads, the result of a flood of untrained drivers, inadequate law enforcement, badly maintained highways and cars that fail modern crash tests.
