9 confirmed dead in restaurant shooting

The unidentified killer, a 62-year-old man, burst into the Družba pub in Uherský Brod, Southern Moravia during lunchtime after complaining that he had been bullied and promising to take revenge.

Nine people have been confirmed dead in Czech Republic after a gunman opened fire in a restaurant on Tuesday, February 24 and then turned the weapon on himself.

Witnesses say he fired mindlessly into the restaurant and left several people injured.

The town’s mayor, Patrick Kunčar, has assured residents that the incident was an isolated one saying that the gunman was “a crazy individual.”

“I’m shaken to the core by this incident. I could not have dreamed something like this could happen here, in a restaurant that I’m so familiar with,” Kunčar said.

Czech Interior Minister Milan Chovanec, also said that it wasn’t a terrorist attack while Prime Minister, Bohuslav Sobotka expressed shock at the incident and offered his condolences to relatives of the victims.
