In the wake of the Garissa University attack by militant Islamist group al-Shabab, hundreds of Kenyans have trooped out en masse to donate blood for the survivors of the horrific attack which left 148 people dead.

Several of the survivors including 19-year old Cynthia Terotich, who hid in a cupboard for 48 hours and had to drink body lotion to quench her thirst, are currently in the casualty ward of Garissa hospital, recuperating.

Meanwhile, over 2,500 people have taken to the streets of Kenya in a show of defiance against the Islamist militant group over the group's deadly assault on Garissa.
