Earthquake rattles Delaware, New York, Baltimore

It was further reported by the US Geological Survey that the rare earthquake was about 6 miles east-northeast of Dover and was registered at a depth of 5 miles.

According to CNN, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck on Thursday afternoon near Dover, Delaware but was felt from New York to Baltimore.

Confirming the quake, Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of Delaware State Police said "We definitely felt it here."

Continuing, Fournier said: "We have not received any reports of damage at this time. (My) house shook and you could hear thing rattle. It sounded like a train and lasted about a second."

A spokesman for the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base, said though he did not feel the earthquake, many people on base were talking about it.

The quake's epicenter was about 50 miles from Philadelphia, 66 miles from Baltimore, 90 miles from Washington and 125 miles from New York City.

A resident of Yardley, Pennsylvania, Mary Bracken narrated her experience saying "(The) house vibrated.

"My husband felt it in (the) next room, too. It was like road construction out front except we aren't having any road construction."

The New Jersey State Police have however said there are yet to be complaints or reports of damages or injuries caused by the quake.

Sgt. Lawrence Peele, a spokesman for the force said: "We haven't gotten any calls or reports of damage or anything like that. I didn't feel anything. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Philadelphia or New York"

A year of several earthquakes

In the last six months, earthquakes have rocked different parts of the world that include in Israel, Iraq, Costa Rica, China amongst others.

Mexico and Costa Rica were the most hit by earthquakes in 2017 with over a hundred killed in each country and many more injured.
