Strike against "Jihadi John" hits at heart of Islamic State

"It will demonstrate to those who would do Britain, our people and our allies harm, we have a long reach, we have unwavering determination and we never forget about our citizens."

Strike against Jihadi John hits at heart of Islamic State- UK Cameron

British Prime Minister David Cameron said on Friday if the strike against the militant known as "Jihadi John" in Syria was successful it would be a strike at the heart of Islamic State.

Cameron, speaking outside his residence in Downing Street, said the U.S. strike against Mohammed Emwazi, a British citizen, was a combined effort between Britain and the United States and it was "an act of self-defence. It was the right thing to do".

"If this strike was successful -- and we still await confirmation of that -- it will be a strike at the heart of ISIL (Islamic State)," he said.
