Canadian woman found guilty of hiding 6 infant bodies in storage locker

She was alleged of hiding dead bodies of six babies in a storage locker in Winnipeg.

Andrea Giesbrecht

Andrea Giesbrecht is free on bail, pending when she would be sentenced.

A trial “established that Andrea Giesbrecht was the mother of and delivered six near or full term children,” wrote judge Murray Thompson, of the Provincial Court of Manitoba, in the judgment.

“The remains of those children were disposed of in a storage locker.

“The evidence leaves no doubt that she concealed her pregnancies and the resulting delivery of each of the six children,” Thompson said.

The infants, five male and one female, were likely to have been born alive, he wrote.

After she defaulted on payment for the storage locker, workers found what appeared to be human remains concealed in sealed containers and plastic pails and called police, according to the judgment.

During the trial, Giesbrecht’s husband, who lived with her and “co-parented” their two living children until her arrest in 2014, testified he never knew she was pregnant with the six children found.

Giesbrecht’s close friend, who was her maid of honour in 1999, said she knew only of the pregnancies of the two living children.

According to the judgment, Giesbrecht used her maiden name and an incorrect address to rent the locker and declined a friend’s offer to help move in the contents.
