House of Reps speaker opens official Instagram account

As his first post, Dogara shared a picture from his inauguration in June 2015 and this account will be joining the other accounts which Dogara operates on other social platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

Media reports have revealed that Speaker of the house of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, on Wednesday, has announced his presence on Instagram, the leading picture sharing site with the handle @speakerdogara.

With the growing popularity of social media amongst Nigerians, Dogara is probably trying to key into that space as a means of connecting with the electorate.

“On June 9th, 2015, I assumed the mantle of leadership of the House of Representatives. I have always believed that as representatives of the people, we must use all tools at our disposal to ensure that those we represent are not kept in the dark about our activities. “This, therefore, is to officially announce my presence on this platform, and I look forward to gaining feedback from you all. I’m here to keep you informed, but more importantly, I’m here to listen to you,” said Dogara on the Instagram account.

As at the time of writing this article, Dogara has posted two pictures, 58 followers, and follows President Muhammadu Buhari and Senate President Bukola Saraki.
