Instant messaging app went down for some minutes, people panic
The UK and Asia were some of the regions hit even though the development is being reported across the world.
The website Down Detector showed a huge spike in problems with the app, suggesting that almost everyone is unable to get online. The problems focused in Western Europe and Asia, but were reported across the world.
Users couldn't send or receive messages for a while, apparently due to a server problem. However service is being said to have been restored gradually.
The Facebook owned app has experienced this kind of outages in the past, which has been quickly resolved.
Things seem to be fine with the service over here in Nigeria.
Facebook and Instagram some weeks ago also had some down time but quickly got back up.
