Annoying things that technology brings asides its amazing benefits

This gist just wants to let out thoughts on some of the ways technology is being such a pain in the butt.

Whatsapp group chats

I like the good guys at Facebook’s Whatsapp, they are constantly innovating with new ideas and stuff, and with Whatsapp group chats, they couldn’t have done any wrong, so the problem doesn’t lie with them but the users.

If a created Whatsapp group is meant to be for discussing spirituality or business, you’d still see some members posting irrelevant material. Hey it’s cool to sometimes maybe throw in a good joke or two but when it begins to take center stage and become a regular with tons of lengthy broadcasts, then that becomes a turn off.

Unsolicited SMS and calls from our darling network providers

I’m yet to meet one person that likes to receive those incredibly annoying uncalled for messages and calls aka Spam from the likes of Airtel and MTN. The networks call it ''Telemarketing'' and part of the business.

Err..if it’s putting your customers off, it’s only logical to stop it already. There are other means of getting your messages across to customers without getting on a nerve.

I believe the short code message guys also fall into this category. Then there’s thisvery displeasing pop-ups by the same networks (Shout out to MTN services) that even when you try closing it keeps popping up like a damn virus. *Sigh*

Typing in passwords for virtually every form

C’mon guys, we should be way past this by now. How do I mean? We are already in the era of finger print IDs, face IDs and eye sensors, these are unique identifiers that should make authentication a breeze. All devices by now should have this type of IDs and we shouldn’t have to break the bank for this. Do you have any idea how exhausting it is to always have to type in passwords or fill any type of form for that matter?

Autoplay music and videos on websites

I guess this is supposed to draw a visitor’s attention to an auto playing video or music but it most often does not. And it gets even more annoying when one can’t locate where the sound is coming from. Some even resume playing again anyway after you stop or pause it. Guilty parties take note, it’s not so cool. Precious data is also on the line for those who aren’t using free Wi-Fi.

The Pop-ups on PC websites asking you to sign up

Pop-ups on websites prompting you to sign up to their newsletter digest or some other service tends to get on nerves, particularly when not done right like the not so believable ones.

There are ways you can encourage potential customers and visitors to subscribe without popping up right in their face and especially when they are already engaging your site’s page. You could have the invite right on top of your website, which shouldn’t come off as intrusive. Figure it out guys.
