Phone maker announces plans to open manufacturing plant in Lagos

While Tecno's first African factory may be in Ethiopia, the company already has presence in 48 countries.

According to a report on Omojuwa.com, the company said it has secured a large expanse of land in a choice area of Lagos.

Attai Oguche, Tecno's deputy marketing manager in Nigeria, made the announcement at the launch of Tecno's latest Phantom 6 and Phantom 6 Plus smartphones.

Oguche went on to reveal that while Tecno's first African factory may be in Ethiopia, the company already has presence in 48 countries.  “Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania respectively remain the biggest market on the continent for the phone company,” Oguche said.

Tecno says the adoption of dual SIM technology across its phone range has been a turning point that has helped it cement a sizeable percentage of the African market.

Jesse Oguntimehin, Tecno's marketing executive, gave more insights into the company's operations in Nigeria adding that the Chinese-owned company is currently enjoying a 25.3% share of the Nigerian market.

Tecno's latest phone, the Phantom 6 was launched at the Burk Khalifa Towers in Dubai and you can expect a review as soon as Pulse Tech gets one for a comprehensive review.
