This startup company wants to reduce workers’ stress due to heavy traffic on Lagos roads

Other potential benefits of the service are more productive use of your time as you ride in comfort.

The company is taking advantage of technology to partner with bus owners to move people from one end of Lagos to the other.

With a mobile app downloaded, you get to book monthly, half-monthly or daily rides on the platform.

Pulse reached out to the company’s product manager and Chief Operations manager Dayo Olujekun for more insight into the idea behind the service.

The app which was launched in October of 2016 had its first live operating route in June 2017, and has been growing steadily such as Ajao estate-Lekki route and about to start Surulere/Maryland-Ajah routes based on requests they have started getting.

The rider gets a discount from a weekly or monthly subscription as against the daily ride subscription where the user must book at least a day before.

Dayo explains how the service basically works.

“The way it works is we actively start working on a route once we get enough requests from that area, once we get the quota from our own database of what we want the area for it to be launched, we do a live assessment of the area and start working on it.”Dayo tells Pulse.

The company collaborates with partner buses to make this possible, the COO noted.

"The mid-income level Lagos worker who doesn’t want to be unproductive in traffic and doesn’t want stress" are the target customers for StaffbusNG Dayo explains.

Another potentially good thing about this bus-sharing service is that it helps to reduce the number of vehicles on the road, lessening traffic congestion.

On the challenges being faced, Dayo says it’s getting more people from a certain area to reach that required quota to make a particular route reasonable to launch.

As part of its long-term vision, the service hopes to expand from its Lagos base going beyond Nigeria and into other African countries.

The app is available on Android and would be available on Ios for iPhone users.
