Social Media Week Lagos Day 5

The ongoing Social Media Week Lagos went into its fifth day today with participants and business from all over Nigeria and beyond attending the week-long event.

The events of the day are generally fashion-centric and the first panel to hold was titled Channeling Fashion: How African Fashion Media & Brands Tell The African Fashion Narrative.

Panelists for the session included Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Publisher, Mania Magazine; Bola Balogun, Chief Creative Officer, Glam Brand Networks/Glam Brand Agency; Yoanna 'Pepper' Chikezie, Channel Manager, Spice Fashion & Lifestyle Channel; Funmi Daniel, VP - Creative Director, Fashion JumiaNigeria; LisaFolawiyo, Founder/Creative Director, Lisa Folawiyo; and Bukky Karibi-Whyte, CEO/Founder, The Bobby Taylor Company.

The panelists spoke on the evolution of the Nigerian fashion industry, the transition from print media to digital media, and how it has effectively changed the dynamics of the industry.

Panelists advised the audience on finding a balance between staying original with their content and finding a balance with monetization and advertisements.

The session closed off with a Q&A session with the audience and closing statements from the panelists.
