Youtube-mp3.org has been handed over to the legal authorities of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The RIAA is a body formed to protect the rights and creative freedom of artists and music labels. Nearly 85% of all legitimate recorded music produced and sold in the United States is created, manufactured or distributed by RIAA members.

The owner of the site Philip Matesanz has done this in exchange for not getting prosecuted, and also has agreed to pay a certain amount as part of the conditions.

He is restrained from “knowingly designing, developing, offering, or operating any technology or service that allows or facilitates the practice commonly known as ‘streamripping”.

The site is still accessible but when a Youtube link gets entered in the space, it returns this:

Better luck next time.
