Internet registration agency says 22,115 .ng domain names were registered in 2015

According to the Nigerian Internet Registration Association (NIRA) domain report, Nigeria also recorded growth in the number of domain name renewals

NiRA reveals 33,572 .ng domain names have been registered in Nigeria for 2015

Reports reveal that the total domain names with Nigerian identification reached 22,115 in December, 2015.

This means that there has been an additional 7,651 new domain names, compared to the 14,462names that the company recorded in 2014.

According to the Nigerian Internet Registration Association (NIRA) domain report, Nigeria also recorded growth in the number of domain name renewals during the course of the outgoing year from January to December 2015.

Details in the domain report include 4,859 registrations made, 3,394 portals with renewals due, while 5,107 additional portals were registered in the second quarter of the year.

In the third quarter of the year, Nigeria added 6,225 domain registrations, 3,607 portal registrations and 106 transfers in the period.

The last quarter brought about a surprising upshoot as the number of the registered domain names during the period were the highest of the year with 5,992 portals, 3,607 renewals and 204 transfers.
