Facebook users raise $10million for earthquake victims

The earthquake relief fund was set up by International Medical Corps, in partnership with Facebook.

 

In response to a call by Facebook for donations to be made towards the relief efforts in Nepal, some users have donated a total of $10million.

The social media giant says the money was raised in just two days. The earthquake relief fund was set up by International Medical Corps, in partnership with Facebook.

Mark Zuckerberg, Chief Executive Officer of Facebook said: “We gave people the option on Facebook to support local relief efforts. In two days, more than half a million people donated and raised more than $10 million to support the International Media Corps relief effort.”

Facebook says it will add $2 million to the $10million already collected, summing it up to $12million.
