The Government of Togo in an official statement, has disclosed plans to link more than 500 public parastatals, offices and buildings to a national fibre optics network.

This innovative move was signed by a representative of the Government of Togo and tech giant-Huawei and it is financed by the Exim Bank of China.
Huawei, a leading networking and telecommunication equipment and service company is a multinational firm that has changed the face of technology and telecommunication in Africa. The Chinese firm will lay 200 km of fibre optic cable through a rough terrain, for hospitals, universities, airports, and ministries in Togo to access.
This move is expected to boost the country’s telecommunication transmission system, social and economical development.

In a press statement, Huawei West Africa vice president- Shi Weilang said: “Togo is only connected to one undersea cable while Benin is linked to two, Ghana to six and Nigeria to ten. It was necessary for Togo to increase its offer to gain speed and capacity.”
