After successfully cloning Snapchat, social network is going after LinkedIn

Where LinkedIn is way more focused on your CV and education, Facebook is sort of democratising the job application process.

Facebook's new Jobs feature could be a direct LinkedIn competitor

Facebook is capitalizing on something LinkedIn has refused to (despite that Microsoft acquisition): helping lower-skilled workers and people who aren't actively looking for a job.

The company is rolling out a slew of new Jobs features which it started testing last year. LinkedIn better watch out.

Business pages will now be able to post vacancies to their News Feed via the status update composer, then host them on a Jobs tab on their page.

When people see these openings, they can simply hit an "Apply Now" button to instantly send an application through Facebook Messenger.

Facebook will even help speed up the process by pre-filling the person's name and profile picture in the application. That feature is currently available in the US and Canada.

The people and businesses looking to hire are all on Facebook anyway. A simple post to your News Feed may reach a candidate that didn't even know they were interested in changing jobs.

When a user finds a job they are interested in, all they have to do is hit the "Apply Now" button which makes sending their applications through a quick and seamless social experience.

The only problem could be that a lot of people are mindful of employers doing background checks on their social media profiles. You wouldn't want an employer finding that "thirst trap" you posted four years ago, right?

Still, there is so much more that Facebook can achieve with its core product with this features and it's safe to say it will only keep going at it till it works. It is uncertain when these features will become available worldwide.
