According to some new reports, there is no better place to build a women-led startup than the United States.
The US is the best country for female entrepreneurs - report
Across the five categories evaluated (business environment, access to resources, leadership, pipelines, and growth potential) the US scored 71%.
According to a new global survey commissioned by Dell, the US has been named as the best place for female entrepreneurs to thrive, perhaps unsurprisingly.
Not far behind it is Canada – with Australia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom making the top five. At the bottom of the list are Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.
Although the US takes the top spot in the ranking of the survey of 31 countries, it still has quite a long way to go in many aspects.
Across the five categories evaluated (business environment, access to resources, leadership, pipelines, and growth potential) the US scored just 71%.
Also, while the country scored highest in the business environment category, only 13% of its start-ups have women on their executive team and a paltry 3% of woman-led enterprises received venture-capital funding in 2014.
As regards the percentage of women in top jobs, China, Brazil, Malaysia, and Nigeria perform better than the US for the number of female CEOs of publicly traded companies.
In Poland, Russia, and Jamaica, 35% or more of the senior managers are women, with America only having 25%.
Al in all, the study discovered that more than 70% of the 31 countries in the survey scored less than 50% when it came to creating the basic conditions for female entrepreneurs to thrive.
