Lenovo announces first 64-bit smartphones with Intel Atom processor

Lenovo has unveiled 2 of its latest devices - the P90 and Vibe X2 Pro - which will be running on 64-bit Intel Atom processor.

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Lenovo announced two smartphones - the P90 and Vibe X2 Pro - both with 64-bit chipsets.

The Vibe X2 Pro is a limited edition variant of the Vibe X2 smartphone that Lenovo unveiled at CES last year.

The smartphone comes with the same multi-layered design that was featured on the Vibe X2. It comes with a 5.3" 1920 x 1080 IPS display with a pixel density of 415PPI. The X2 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor and comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. There is a microSD card slot for expanding the memory further.

At the back, there is a 13MP shooter with LED flash, and also a 13MP camera on the front as well, for selfie lovers. Although there is no front-facing LED flash, you get the Lenovo Vibe Xtension selfie flash accessory that will plug-in to the 3.5mm audio jack and provide a decently powerful flash with its 8 diffused LEDs.

The X2 Pro comes with a 2,410mAh battery and includes support for LTE Cat.4, Bluetooh 4.0, and Wi-Fi 802.11/a/b/g/n/ac dual-band as well. The smartphone is expected to be available in Champagne Gold, Rock Pink and Electric Blue colour options by April.

The P90 is the more impressive of the two smartphones launched by Lenovo. It is the first smartphone to be powered by the Intel Atom 64-bit Z3560 chipset with Intel's new 5-mode XMM 7262 LTE Advanced modem. This means that the P90 can offer LTE-A FDD as well as TDD network support in multiple markets. It comes with a slightly bigger 5.5" IPS display with 1080p resolution, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, and a giant 4,000mAh battery. The P90 comes in Pearl White, Onyx Black and Lava Red colour options.
