Tech giant targets car production in 2020

A new report has revealed that Apple has started beefing up their car production team in a bid to start producing by 2020.

A new report by undefinedhas revealed that tech giant, Apple Inc.'s new target it to start production of cars by 2020.

The company has been working secretly on car production, and according to the report, it is pushing its team to begin production of an electric vehicle as early as 2020.

Speaking to Bloomberg TV on Thursday, February 19, Steve LeVine a automotive battery industry writer, said that some other car makers are currently trying to make electric cars and Apple has also joined the fold.

“That’s the inflection point -- the proving ground -- that brings on the electric age.Now you have Apple coming in and this is critical mass. Was GM really going to be able to match Tesla? Apple can,” Steve said of Tesla Motors Inc. and General Motors Co’s predicted dominance of the electric car making.

“Apple would have some advantages as a new entrant to the auto industry; finally, Apple’s brand – arguably the most important advantage – is a big attraction for the next generation of car customers,” Steve also said.

The new report also revealed that Apple car team which already has about 200 people, has started hiring within the past couple of months as the company sought out experts in technologies for batteries and robotics.
