Tech training company to admit first 'all female' class

The program is a four-year, paid Technical Leadership Program similar to a university except participants don't pay tuition

Andela runs the most selective tech training program on the continent.

There are very few women (in comparison) in tech in Africa and globally, and education has been blamed for this shortage. According to a Techmoran report, women obtain 24 percent of all science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) degrees, with only 20 percent obtaining degrees in Computer science degrees.

However, after celebrating International Women's Day, Andela has announced that it will be launching a women-only coding class this year targeting women who love tech and programming.

Techmoran reports that Andela said its first 'all female' class in inviting applications from women who intend to become 'world class' developers.

The program is a four-year, paid Technical Leadership Program similar to a university except participants don't pay tuition, earn a healthy living with benefits, and get placed into international companies by Andela within 6 months.

“As an Andela Fellow, you are also eligible for continued training and employment with Andela for four years. . After the four year program, Andela Fellows can be expected to; start technology companies, work directly with client companies as employees or continue to help train software engineers as Andela,” said Andela, according to the Techmoran report.

The deadline for application is April 8th, 2016, so if you are interested you should probably hurry. Andela recently trained and mentored 1 million big data scientists in a partnership with IBM and CodeMentor.
