President Goodluck Jonathan today, September 20, 2014, paid a visit to the site of the guest house, which collapsed within the premises of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations in Ikotun, Lagos.

The president, who is in Lagos for a political rally, is also said to have extended his condolences to the leader of the church, Temitope Balogun Joshua aka T.B Joshua, and the families of the victims.

An official of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye reportedly told newsmen:

“The president came to the church this morning to see things for himself. He met with Prophet T.B. Joshua and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families,”

Jonathan is also said to have made a promise to investigate the cause of the September 12 building collapse.

The death toll from the incident has now been put at 86, a number which Farinloye confirmed.

T.B. Joshua blames the collapse on sabotage saying it was caused by a strange aircraft which flew over the building but Lagos state officials have reportedly said that the structure was being raised from 2 storeys to 6 and no official approval had been granted for the construction.
