Wke Election tribunal sacks Rivers State governor

Rivers State sitting governor, Nyesom Wike has been sacked by the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal as the governor of River state.

According to multiple reports, the tribunal upheld Dakuku Peterside of the All Progressive Congress' petition and ordered for a fresh elections in the state within 90 days.

The judgment, which was passed in Abuja on Saturday, October 24, 2015, has thrown members of the All Progressive Progress into a state of jubilation.

It was further gathered that Wike’s witnesses didn't help the sitting governor as their characters were questioned when they dodged questions under cross-examination and also refused to answer some questions.

While the news is said to have sent down shivers down the governor's spine, the Independent National Electoral Commission is expected to conduct a fresh election in Rivers State before the end of the year.

It should be noted that Dakuku Peterside had contested the victory of Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party at the polls claiming that voters were intimidated, result sheets were not available for viewing, electoral materials were snatched and there were non-collation of results at wards and LG levels.
