Bakare stated this on Friday, August 19, after a secret meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa which lasted for about an hour.
He was said to have arrived the Villa at around 2:45pm local time and went straight to the President’s office for the meeting.
Speaking of Buhari's performance so far, he said the current administration inherited a bastardised economy.
He said: “Pain is part of gain. No pain without gain. Yes of wastage and all that we have done wrong had finally caught up with us.
“All we are praying for is wisdom for this government to do the right things so that gradually we can begin to come out of the woods.
“It is too quick and too soon to begin to judge. If there is anything I know about the President, he has a good heart and loves this country. He wants this country to run well.”
Bakare was Buhari's running mate in the 2011 presidential election won by Goodluck Jonathan.
