‘We’ll still defeat him at tribunal,’ PDP vows

PDP candidate and incumbent Governor, Seriake Dickson won a second term after defeating Sylva on January 9, 2016.

The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that it would still defeat All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Timipre Sylva, at the election petition tribunal if he decided to contest the results of the January 9 polls.

PDP candidate and incumbent Governor, Seriake Dickson won a second term after defeating Sylva.

The Bayelsa PDP made its boast via a statement released on Tuesday, January 12, by the Director of Publicity of Dickson’s campaign organisation, Jonathan Obuebite.

According to Obuebite, the results of the elections showed that Bayelsa “is a stronghold of the PDP.”

He also urged Sylva to join hands with Dickson to move the state forward, instead of going to court as doing so would amount to an “effort in futility”.

“Sylva, after losing the election, went to a night club to enjoy himself with friends. He went to three clubs on Sunday. How can a man who just lost an election attend a club if he was expecting to win?” Obuebite asked.

The APC candidate has vowed to contest Dickson’s victory in the elections.
