Nigeria’s National Assembly is to remain closed till July 21, 2015, after Senate President, Bukola Saraki and House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara adjourned sitting till that date.

Chaos broke out in the House of Reps just as Dogara was about to preside over the day’s business leading the Speaker to announce the adjournment.

The trouble was caused by a disagreement as to whether Dogara should decide on leadership positions in the house or if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) should have its way.

There was also uproar in the Senate after Saraki went againt the APC’s wishes again and chose his loyalists to fill the principal positions in the upper house.

The APC had urged Saraki to appoint Senator Ahmed Lawan as Majority Leader but he chose Senator Ali Ndume instead.
