Wike said Amaechi plotted to rig the elections but failed woefully.

Governor Wike

The Governor said the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi allegedly plotted to rig the elections but failed and left the state in shame.

He stated this on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Government House while addressing some members and loyalists of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

“Amaechi plot to rig the rerun elections was for him to rubbish the Supreme Court Judgement. He came back to the state noisily, but left quietly and shamefully,"Wike said:

“No Army is stronger than the people. No police is stronger than our people. How many times will they cancel elections for the APC. Amaechi is not on ground in Rivers State.

“Those who were overzealous during the rerun elections did so without the knowledge of the president. “

Following the electoral irregularities recorded during the rerun, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had cancelled elections held in eight out of the state’s 23 local government areas of the state.

The Commission also announced announced on Tuesday, March 22, it will not hold any elections in Rivers State until peace is restored.
